Our customers report this to be one of the best choices for a sunny indoor windowsill, lite gardening setup, or hobby greenhouse container as it will be nearly everblooming in such a site. This will not bloom in low light or cool conditions; so chill sensitive we cannot ship during cool periods.

Always a popular and much sought after dramatic rarer plant!

11626 ADIANTUM RADDIANUM FRAGRANTISSIMUM POLYPO CGH TERR HP PRICE: $ 5.50 Elegant arching blackish stems accent the dark narrow fans of this heirloom "Fragrant Maidenhair Fern"--Not quite the challenge as a houseplant that some of its fussier cousins are--and quite wonderful in any terrarium composition.

56910 BEGONIA DEJA THORUS BEG TERR CGH PRICE: $ 6.50 (rz) Fabluous silver nacre leaves with elegantly frilled and fluted margins. Great in a Wardian Case; deserves to be more popular as one of the easiest to grow of the silvery crew. You get ten extra points if you get the name reference.

56387 BEGONIA KEN'S KANDY [HYB] BEG HP CGH PRICE: $ 6.00 (rz) A well known hybrid by Ken Frieling at the Glasshouse Works. "Celery Stalk" mimic as the thick blanched erect petioles flare into double Ionic helixes of quite small but wide deep olive leaves nearly entirely netted deep chocolate-sienna; very congested habit typical of many recent 'Hocking Hybrid' series. Tolerant of low humidity, this has become a very popular terrarium subject. Looks complicated and difficult, but this vigorous tuffett is of easy culture.

59422 BEGONIA SOLI-MUTATA BEG TGH TERR PRICE: $ 6.00 (rz) Very lovely low statured primadonna with very wide rich cinnamon green pebbled (cordate outline with bullate surface) leaves, reddish beneath, accented with pale lime veins. Extremely popular very vigorously growing Brazilian with white flowers for designers of wardian cases and large terrariums--and for lite gardeners.

11501 BLECHNUM BRAZILIENSE POLYPOD TGH CGH PRICE: $ 9.50 "Miniature Copper Treefern" Heavily textured rosette of leathery bronzed fronds, deep wavy lobes overlapping, top the woody scally trunk. Gives a Jurassic tone to a large terrarium--has the character and outline of a treefern, but is of easier culture and remains of modest size so as to not immediately outgrow your large terrarium. We may send an alternate Blechnum species with a very similar look if we are low on these.

41953 BREYNIA DISTICHA NANA EUP CGH HP PRICE: $ 10.00 Marvelous "Dwarf Snowbush" with oval green & white "Foliage Flower" leaves on zig-zagging stems. Very lovely miniature form with stronger color contrast (plus pinkish when cool); very sought after for "mame" subject in Asia==but our customers have discovered this to be equally charming as a miniature "tree" in a terrarium design.

42272 BUXUS GREEN VELVET [HYB] BUX HT PRICE: $ 4.25 Full-bodied rounded hybrid retaining dusky deep green color throughout the entire winter--resists cold windburn better than most "Boxwoods" and is root hardy even in the far north--considered to be at least Z5 hardy. Excellent color and habit, gradually forming a perfect tightly foliaged mound.

41553 BUXUS MICROPHYLLA COMPACTA [KINGSVILLE] BUX HT CGH HP PRICE: $ 6.00 "Kingsville Dwarf Boxwood" The twiggy, dense habit of this famous clone has made it the favorite of bonsai lovers. Very tiny dull-gloss leathery leaves on corky-barked trunks, easily trained into wide low specimens; survives indoors more successfully than other cultivars..

42251 BUXUS MICROPHYLLA CURLILOCKS BUX HT HH PRICE: $ 7.75 Odd selection of "Japanese Boxwood" forming a low cushion of curly lime toned twigs with bright folded tiny leaves hued a bright pale avacado green; distinctive form & color. Most petite foliage and excellent trunk character of any boxwood cultivar for bonsai training according to those customers of ours who are addicted to wiring and clipping.

41550 BUXUS MICROPHYLLA JAPONICA MORRIS MIDGET BUX HT CGH PRICE: $ 5.25 "Dwarf Boxwood" Very compact wide-spreading stature (a round smooth habit with dense twigy branches); bright green wide oval leathery leaves. Bonsai subject as well as knot garden hedge and rockery star dating back to Dr. Skinner's selection at the Morris Arboretum where a forty year old plant has reached the remarkably daunting height of one and onehalf foot! (Nurseries in the Baltimore area report that this will reach three feet in height and four in width when reaching the ripe old age of forty.) Because of its urge to go hemispherical, this is by far the best candidate for shaping into a ball outline for any garden design strong on orbs. Yes, we know that orbs are in. We are not square.

41346 BUXUS SEMPERVIRENS MARGINATA BUX HP CGH HH PRICE: $ 7.75 British clone which has yellow-rimmed (gradually hardening to dusky ivory) dark leathery oval leaves; A favorite for bonsai, also making an excellent showy pot subject; although for us is hardy in zone 6, this very showy cultivar can and will burn if planted where it receives bright winter sun. We follow the European and Asian nomenclature and consider the slim lime yellow-rimmed form (with narrower outline) to be 'Elegantissima' and the bright gold oval leaved form to be 'Sunburst.' These various clone names are very very mixed up in the nursery trade.

41352 CALATHEA LIETZEI MAR TGH HP PRICE: $ 6.00 Arching undulate oval bottomed lance leaves of dark bronzed velvet with pale midribs and olive stripes. Brazilian species of modest size with the endearing habit of producing plantlets along the bloom clusters creating tuffets of bronzy leaves midair. Does not demand the constant humidity and does not brown as the soil ages with accumulations of salts as do some of its more spectacular breathern. Good performer in the larger terrarium or wardian case.

66900 CALATHEA THAI BEAUTY MAR TERR TGH PRICE: $ 50.00 Remarkable bold cream & lime variegation creating a different irregular pattern on each upward whorled leaf. Most probably in the C. lietzei complex. While many (most) Calatheas are highly patterned and colored, this is the only selection of which we are aware which is technically "variegated." with remarkable results. Seriously fabulous.

41009 CALVOA SESSILIFLORA MEL TERR TGH R PRICE: $ 6.25 Choice Congo shrublet with pairs of shiny, haired lime green flowers on forked cymes; of easy culture as a pot plant, yet demure enough to enhance any Wardian case grouping: the blooms and cute tripart seed capsules quickly reveal its kinship to its big boned Tibouchina cousins.

88775 CAREX MORROWI ICE DANCE CYP HT PRICE: $ 4.00 Tightly clumping "Cream Sedge" forms jewel like tuffets of glossy leathery slim blades with far wider cream-ivory margins than the similarly vigorus 8" tall cultivar 'Variegata.' Z5 treasure for bog, border, or small container. Availability can be limited--check before ordering in quantities.

70507 CHAMAECYPARIS PISIFERA MINIMA SILVER LODE CUP HT PRICE: $ 10.00 Bright white-flecked foliage very striking, especially as the reverse remains silvery; said to be a sport of `Minima Aurea.' Rounded cushion outline remains petite enough for a trough if regularly shaped; but also quite successful in your dwarf conifer garden, adding a cool shimmery quality to complement any evergreen companion.

70109 CHAMAECYPARIS PISIFERA SNOW CUP TH PRICE: $ 5.25 `Mikko' in Japan. Very winterburn tolerant plumosa type--pointed globe of moss-like blue-green foliage with all new growth a bright white. Avoid winter sun in warmer southern climates; always excellent in containers.

70508 CHAMAECYPARIS PISIFERA TSUKUMO CUP HT PRICE: $ 6.50 "Bonsai Cypress" Very finely textured deeply colored foliage on a lovely mini-bun shaped charmer; perfectly hardy out in the rockery, best known as a perfect bonsai candidate (known to survive a close cropping or so) and as am obliging well behaved trough subject.

11573 CHEILANTHES LANOSA POLYPO HT PRICE: $ 5.50 "Hairy Lip Fern" Delightful native (from non-lime areas) w/ clumpy, much toothed & chestnut orange felted fronds thickly clustered over short-creeping rhizomes. Good in troughs. Not tolerant of fertilizer.

20463 CHIRITA SINENSIS HISAKO [HYB] GES HP TERR PRICE: $ 4.50 Flared rosette of very succulent serrated leaves richly traced with silver, from which rise stout stems with soft lavender pouched flaring blossoms of considerable substance. Handsome Nakayama hybrid more free-flowering than species clones. Certainly one of the easiest of all houseplants, equally at home in the windowsill, terrarium, or greenhouse/plantroom--but most smashingly splendid when grown under lights. When customers "cut down" on the number of their pet houseplants, this is never tossed out!
40115 CHLOROPHYTUM BICHETII [LAXUM] LIL HP TGH PRICE: $ 6.75 False Lily Turf" Marvelous tufts of small arching blades margined in ivory white; good in low light; from Gabon. "Pongol" has become a great favorite with terrarium fanciers as it maintains its petite tightly clumping tuffet outline to provide a welcome white banded foil to flashier companions. This belongs in the short "Toy Category" of the tribe as it reliably slowly clumps, never throwing out long arching shoots with plantlets. Its tuberous roots insure its survival should its human experience lapses in watering.

40137 CLUSEA GUTTIFERA GUT HP TGH PRICE: $ 7.50 Excellent dwarf cousin of the "Autograph Tree": freely-branched candelabra stems studded w/ apple green 4" long triangular leaves with waxy gloss. Handsome as bonsai; recently discovered by designers of wardian cases; excellent houseplant tolerating low humidity.

11709 COLYSIS ELLIPTICA CRISPA-VARIEGATA POLYPOD CGH HP PRICE: $ 25.00 "Frosted Petticoat Fern" From woody surface rhizomes emerge short stems flaunting astounding leathery fingered fronds elaborately crested and tipped with frosty white variegation Remains a dwarf fern of relatively easy culture, especially if grown in a large terrarium or wardian case.

10204 COLYSIS WRIGHTII POLYP HP CGH PRICE: $ 6.75 Very compact deep green strap fronds with tiny depressions on surface like hammered tin. Very attractive slow growing small fern equally successful as a windowsill pot plant (looks great in a small bonsai pot as the wiry maroonish rhizomes wander over the lip) and as a small statured vertical accent in the sophisticated terrarium. Delicate appearance, yet easy to grow.

11431 COLYSIS WRIGHTII MONSTRIFERA POLYP CGH TERR PRICE: $ 9.25 Short glossy membraneous fronds, elaborately veined, widely fluted into undulant tips like an Art Nouveau fantasy. This tassled rare dwarf is petite enough to be perfect in a terrarium, yet quite able to cope with humidity levels of the windowsill or litegarden. Always one of the most popular dwarf ferns we offer--it looks difficult to grow, but is not. Certainly the most Lalique of any plants. A tostled basic as the centerpiece in many terrarium designs.

70130 COTONEASTER PROCUMBENS STRIEB'S FINDLING ROS HT HH PRICE: $ 7.50 "Bonsai Rockspray" Glossy contorted prostrate branches form bonsai shapes. In a rockery or by walls will conform to the contours it encounters.A prostrate selection from Germany, 'Strieb's Findling' will provide an unusual accent to your garden. This very low growing plant with tiny green leaves appears to cling tightly to the ground. Accented with white flowers in spring and red berries in the fall and winter; it may attain a height of four inches, for taller uses, you will need to stake it up.

52254 CRYPTANTHUS ACAULIS BRO HP TGH PRICE: $ 4.00 Common "Earth Star" of dusky gray tones forming tidy gradually mounding attractive rosettes with their starry "hidden" flowers. Silvery olive grey foliage--reliable, but certainly not the most showy of its kin. Perfect in any terrarium design.

53297 CRYPTANTHUS BIVITTATUS LE REY BRO HP TGH PRICE: $8.00 Light green stars with violet pink edges repeated with purple and lilac interior stripes. Always a favorite among collectors as well as designers of distinctive terrarium groupings. Very similar to 'Novistar.'

52303 CRYPTANTHUS BIVITTATUS PINK STARLITE BRO HP TGH PRICE: $ 7.50 A vibrant pink and white to cream striped beauty. As with others in this group, perfect in any terrarium design.

52067 CRYPTANTHUS BIVITATTUS RUBY BRO HP TGH PRICE: $ 5.00 A C. bivitattus with the vibrant color of dark ruby red. One of the most popular at the greenhouses always. As with others in this group, perfect in any terrarium design.

52070 CRYPTANTHUS BLACK MYSTIC [HYB] BRO HP TGH PRICE: $ 15.00 Wide starry rosette of undulating chocolate-purple cardboard leaves (of zonatus blood) with dramatic platinum bars. Showy large hybrid for wardian case; although always reliable as a houseplant as it tolerates less than perfect humidity levels.

53362 CRYPTANTHUS BROMELIOIDES [HORT] BRO HP TGH PRICE: $12.00 Bright glossy bronze sheened upright rosettes of elegantly arched leathery fleshy leaves mimic a dwarfed pineapple. Readily offsets to form an impressive large hemisphere as matures, bringing it the nomination for best windowsill performance. This clone not the spiny Brazilian type. We hope to have the variegated form of this plant next year.

53246 CRYPTANTHUS CLOUD COVER BRO HP TGH PRICE: $ 15.00 Dark colored fosteriana/zonatus habit with glorious zoning of rosy verdigris and chocolate blush toned deep bronze leaves dusted scrufty gray in perfect light. Odd dusky giant; becomes quite large.

53336 CRYPTANTHUS HYBRIDUS ELAINE BRO HP TGH PRICE: $ 12.50 A larger grower than some hybrids. This magnificent plant has almost irridescent coloration on the newer dusky toned richly chevroned leaves, each leathery dramatic leaf margined in dusky pink tones. Always a bold subject in the design of a wardian case; always an especially rich color experience when grown under lights which encourages vividly contrasted zoning.

52081 CRYPTANTHUS NUBICOLA [hort] BRO HP TGH PRICE: $ 4.75 "Cloud Plant" Lovely dwarf with masses of hazy-pink narrow leaves in quite flat profiled rosettes gradually offsetting from the center after blooming; a natural for the small terrarium.

52093 CRYPTBERGIA MEADII [HYB] BRO HP TGH PRICE: $4.25 Erect rosette with coppery leathery leaves mottled, gray-green reverse; greenish flowers. Cryptanthus beuckeri x Billbergia nutans. An heirloom bromel still sought after for its modest size, good habit and quite unusual colorations. Easy very attractive houseplant tolerating less than perfect levels of humidity. Updating recent customer feedback: most successful when used as tailfeathers for topiary birds; care free filler for outdoor summertime container combos.

52092 CRYPTBERGIA RUBRA [HYB] BRO HP TGH PRICE: $ 5.50 Beautiful pot plant of dark maroon-red laquered curved leaves tightly overlapping to form low statured fountains of moderate size, backed with silver tones. Hybrid of Cryptanthus bahianus x Bilbergia nutans. Recommended. Low growing heirloom bromel always reliable as an easily grown houseplant or large terrarium subject. A great plant choice to jump start your investigation of the Bromeliad tribe.

Good flowering indoor bonsai subject and quite popular in summertime urns.

41333 CUPHEA HYSSOPIFOLIA PALEST PINKIE LYT HP TGH PRICE: $ 5.00 A delicate color selection of the reliable "Hawaiian Heather" (a native of Guatemala, naturally) with very pale lilac ever blooming flowers on arched stems. A random seedling originally found in our greenhouses here, and still in great demand.

42209 CUPHEA HYSSOPIFOLIA YATSUBUSA LYT HP PRICE: $ 5.25 Foliage larger, lilac flowered color more intense than the more elegant 'Compacta', yet keeps lateral low growth habit. As this more laterally angled woody stemed selection grows rapidly, it will always appeal to bonsai designers.

THE FAMOUS MING ARALIA IN A VARIEGATED FORM!!

41919 DIZYGOTHECA ELEGANTISSIMA MARGINED RIM ARAL TGH HP PRICE: $ 6.25 Marvelous selection of "False Aralia" with each threadlike metalic segment of the palmate lvs margined soft pink when emerges, soon fading to a pale cream. Needs pruning to encourage juvenile foliage. Now Schefflera elegantissima

40203 DORSTENIA CONTRAJERVA AMPLIFOLIA MOR HP TGH PRICE: $ 5.00 "Wart Flower" Wider, shallower hypanthodium lobing than the species form with the typical leaf also less lobed; the thick tuberculed succulent stem is unsegmented. Easy culture. Probably the species known as "Drake's Foot" used as a cure for snakebite in Central & South America, thus also known as "Tortus Herb." Dramatic in a large terrarium, yet quite easily grown on any windowsill--if it (for mysterious reasons) remains unwatered for some extended period of time and drops its leaves, just begin watering again and a new set will soon appear as the pseudo-caudex trunk retains life for a good stretch of time (and remember to keep the dried leaves for your snakebite medical kit). Can you afford not to have this houseplant?

41880 DURANTA ERECTA [SPECIOSA] AUREO-MEDIA VER HP TGH PRICE: $ 5.25 Unusual "Lemon Drop" clone of "Skyflower" with each small leaf center splashed golden ochre. Freely produced white blossoms. Excellent twiggy small foliaged subject for small statured tropical bonsai as can be easily trained in lateral directions, yet beautiful also as a showoff terrartium treelet although a pruning may be necessary if it likes your perfect enviroment too well.

42142 DURANTA SPECIES DWARF VER TGH HP PRICE: $ 5.00 Hansoti #26; possibly an extreme dwarf clone of D. repens (although Botanists now suggest that all are species erecta--bit of a contrast?), with tiny sprays of lilac flowerlets if it is happy.

A great find by Jim Atchison, from whom this clone derives. Possibly the best place to start for an indoor bonsai experience if you anticipate needing some immediate positive stroking as a master of tropical bonsai--especially as the swollen roots help this survive a minor lapse in your watering schedule!

41260 FICUS FRED BOUTIN MOR HP CGH PRICE: $ 5.00 Unique woody, twiggy low growing "character" trunks give this quirky hybrid of F. carica x pumila high marks with cascade bonsai trainers who also value its richly haired, quilted foliage. this selfbranching jewel needs high humidity like its carica parent to maintain good spidermite free foliage; loves a pole or wall to clamber like its pumila parent. Of most interest to collectors as the Moraceae are notoriously difficult to hybridize as the blossoms face the center of the enclosed protofruit available only to the designated wasp species.. Not only prized by moss topiary designers but also now discovered by Wardian Case designers looking for a taller fig which will remain small featured.

58487 FICUS MICROPHYLLA NEW DWARF MOR HP TGH $ 12.00 "Dwarf Tiger Bark Fig" Excellent bonsai with short, branching trunk and very dwarf leaves; excellent as a standard; perfect as a tropical bonsai; but also perfect for terrarium culture. 40289 FICUS PUMILA [REPENS] MINIMA MOR HP CGH TER PRICE: $ 4.25 "Quilted Creeping Fig" lovely tiny puckered leaves; miniatured dimpled form of a miniature species--the clasping stems tend to be utterly plastered against whatever it is busily covering. The best choice for covering the base surface of any tropical bonsai as prefers to flatten itself to the contour of the surface and has very small leaves. This is much prized by designers of small terrariums as the habit remains quite prostrate unlike its more gravity defying cultivar cousins. But remember, this is much slower growing than the other cultivars of pumila.

41881 FICUS PUMILA [REPENS] SNOWFLAKE MOR HP TERR PRICE: $ 4.75 Beautiful "Snowflake Fig" forms an overlapping mat made of irregularly lobed small glossy leaves with showy marginal bands of bright clear white. Show stopper in any terrarium design--known in Europe as 'Arina' or 'White Sunny.'

Newly published under the name of Ficus Salicaria for which information we thank Derek Burch. Whatever its name, this shrubby freely branching beauty is at home in any bonsai pot; however, released into a larger pot or given free root run, this soon achieves wide handsome proportions at which point the beauty of the older bark becomes apparent.

Very popular with the bonsai & alpine greenhouse crowds! Petite enough for a terrarium. We prefer to ship this when the temperatures are moderate for sometimes it does not travel well without considerable leaf drop--a perfectly natural plant response to seasoned plantsmen, but an unnerving crisis to those new to growing. Naturally, it immediately leafs out just like most Pelargoniums after having survived the shock of a few days in a dark box.

40321 GARDENIA JASMINOIDES RADICANS FLOREPLENO RUB HP CGH PRICE: $ 5.00 "Dwarf Gardenia" Low shrub with tidy glossy dark green leaves paired on much-branched stems to beautifully frame lovely fragrant double white blooms; unlike florist types, this produces a few fls at a time, but throughout the year. 41166 HEDERA HELIX DUCK FOOT ARAL HP CGH PRICE: $ 4.00 Fantastic tiny mounds of miniature duckfoot-shaped leaves. Use as a tiny tuffet at the base of a bonsai; add to your terrarium, or encourage it over a mini-boulder in your rockery.

At first view does not seem to be an Ivy as the shingled frosted leaves are softly lobed, if lobed at all. Has proven to be quite winter hardy here in Ohio if situated out of winter sun combined with wind. A more perfect terrarium plant cannot be imagined.

42115 HEDERA HELIX LITTLE DIAMOND ARAL CGH HH PRICE: $ 6.25 Small-statured 'Kleiner Diamant' with diamond shaped gray splashed leaves with delicate white border. Very shrubby; a conversation piece small enough for the sophisticated wardian case.

Extremely popular as even older established vines still maintain the very reduced foliage. Excellent on mossed topiary forms, newly popular in terrariums even though this tiny fellow may not retain its deep color in this environment.

58490 HEDERA HELIX TINY HUSSLER ARAL HP CGH PRICE: $ 6.00 Dimunitive and self branching tuffet of tiny round lobed three dimensional leave. Lacks stem and creates tumbling growth

Favorite greenhouse groundcover and charmingly bright in any terrarium design. If needed in larger numbers, we will consider yours on a propagate-to-order basis as this can be (unlike the green species form) quite maddingly slow to produce.

50030 HEMIGRAPHIS (ALTERNATA ?) EXOTICA [HORT] ACA HP TGH PRICE: $ 3.00 "Waffle Plant" Shiny maroon marginally rolled leaves extremely quilted and seriously puckered and paired on red stems rooting at each node. Even flourishes as an aquatic plant!

Mauve-pink flowers overshadowed by wide but short deep green strap leaves with brilliant white midrib. This is a slow to increase dwarf maintaining (quite unlike its robest kin) a small enough "footprint' to make it an excellent subject for wardian case designers. Certainly one of the most sought after of all bulbs.

40364 HOFFMANIA FANTASIA [HYB] RUB HP TGH PRICE: $ 25.00 Hybrid with shimmering quilted leaves of green copper-satin. Handsome wide leaved hybrid of ghiesbrecktii x refulgens. Wonderful in the larger Wardian Case.

10484 DAVALLIA (HUMATA) TYERMANII POLYP HP PRICE: $ 6.25 "White Rabbit Foot." The arched, vigorous foot is covered with pure white hairs-- very furry. The fronds are lacy and deep, rich green. "Humata" is the true genus name, but we double referenced it because it looks so much like a Davallia and sometimes appears as such in the wholesale trade. Excellent as a pot plant, outstanding in a hanging basket for a houseplant as survives less than ideal levels of humidity.

70742 ILEX CRENATA GOLDEN GEM AQU HT $ 5.00 Lovely new selection of "Golden Holly" with cheerful yellow glossy leathery small oval leaves thickly set on much-branched congested stems; marvelous low spreading habit makes this perfect small broadleaf evergreen shrub. 70828 JUNIPERUS PROCUMBENS KIYOMI CUP HT PRICE: $ 7.25 Selected form of 'Nana' --In Japanese tradition, the prefered form for bonsai as this cultivar has more bunched needles, slightly upright angled growing tips and an innate love for better living through containerization. 11430 LEPISORUS BICOLOR POLYPO CGH PRICE: $ 7.25 Resembles a sophisticated Pyrrosia with very slim surface rhizomes; strap fronds with indented polka-dot spore patches distinguish this "Sechuan Ribbon Fern" which Eco-Gardens considers Zone 8 hardy. Quite beautiful and distinct in pot or basket--even though its initial slow deliberate growth rate may test your patience. Grown in Camellia house conditions this creeping fern becomes fantastic, whether as a ground cover, a moss topiary addition, or as a exclamation point in a design for the wardian case.

40444 LONICERA NITIDA BAGGESEN'S GOLD CAP HP CGH HH PRICE: $5.50 In bright light the tiny ranks of new leaves of this "Prostrate Honeysuckle" remain blond-gold; brilliant against deeper green older foliage of this arching small shrub--wonderful when sheared. 10607 MICROGRAMMA PALMERII [NITIDA] POLYP TERR TGH PRICE: $ 25.00 Many semiglossy small elongated-oval fronds held erect over the slim slightly flatened rhizomes meandering over cork or treefern; because this fern evolved upon tropical treetrunks, it survives low humidity better than some; but truely thrives when given artifical rain forest (good humidity) conditions in a terrarium where it forms a dense otherworldly groundcover.

30287 MONSTERA STANLEYANA VARIEGATA ARAC HP TGH PRICE: $ 15.00 Rich ivory splashes on elongated, round tipped leaves; very beautiful selection of this scandent vine shingled with soft leathery foliage of deep green slashed with ivory white. 11649 NEPHROLEPIS CORDIFOLIA HANDY POLYP HP TGH PRICE: $ 6.75 Very dark green mounding "Dwarf Petticoat Fern" with fronds closely ranked with glossy crinkly pinnae; when a frond reaches 6" to 8" it starts to crest by forking and reforking at the tips. Give this little forker good light and keep evenly moist. Excellent houseplant; fabulous conservatory showoff; and yet small enough to be the ikbal of your plant harem in a larger terrarium setting.

11653 NEPHROLEPIS EXALTATA POM PON POLYP HP TGH PRICE: $ 6.50 'Pom Pon' could easily be called "The Cheerleaders' Fern"--but of course we will not stoop to such sorry humor! This is such a well behaved small statured Nephrolepis noted for each pinnae being quite rounded in outline that both growers and the public take to it instantly. The color is very consistenly a bright green and seems quite pest resistant. It forms a very tight and rounded and full ball in a hanging basket. Of late we note that it is becoming a favorite of those designing wardian case compositions looking for an alternative small statured fern choice instead of the far stiffer, more vertical cordifolia 'Duffii' and 'Buttons.'

11586 NEPHROLEPIS EXALTATA SUZI WONG POLYPOD GH PRICE: $ 7.50 Dwarf lacy selection--unlike most extremely delicate types, if adaquate moving air is available, the fronds do not discolor & brown easily, even though layer after layer of froth develops on each frond. Avoid excessive humidity; best with good air movement--thus even though it has the perfect appearance for your Wardian case, Suzi may not be the best choice for her lower skirts may get a bit messy if the humidity level is extreme that is, if your case is kept excessively humid.!

Quite winter hardy in SE Ohio, but often with minor tip-burn. Nonetheless, in our experience, this is still the slowest to spread into a mat, as does not offset as willingly as 'Kyoto Dwarf' with its comparatively much more short and wide leafblades. Diabetes cure in China

Eventually creating its own miniature "standard" shape on its wiry woody stem unless you pinch the growing tip to encourage branching. A gem for any light gardener; quickly winning over designers of terrarium landscapes as well. Quite a jewel in a terrarium or Wardian Case plant combination. Sometime called Oxalis Silver & Gold.

Choice dwarf for the terrarium. And the rather hopeless name? Well, it means "Curved Ovule" allowing the micropyle to come quite near the funicle. We assume this is why other plants simply love to have it grow near them in the terrarium.

53538 PEPEROMIA CAPERATA ARGENTEA PIP HP TGH PRICE: $ 6.00 "Silver Ripple" The waxed corrugated leaves solid silver-gray. "Caperata" means wrinkled. Bright cultivar of a favorite houseplant--brightens up any terrarium like a shiny penny.

33119 PHILODENDRON ZENA (XANADU DWARF FORM) ARA HP TGH PRICE: $ 12.00 Elongated leathery leaves with many shallow rounded fingered lobes. Thickly overlaping dark leaves form a birdsnest shape rather than a clambering vine like P. elegans. This is a very compact form that would even work in larger terrariums and wardian cases.

10960 PHYLLITIS [ASPLENIUM] SCOLOPENDRIUM POLYP GH PRICE: $ 8.00 Rosette of knife-shaped fronds. Can often be grown outside in a milder clime than ours. This is the famous "Hart's Tongue" fern. We are finally once again offering the crested form below.

11657 POLYPODIUM FALLAX POLYPOD HP CGH PRICE: $12.00 This footed fern is compact but highly crested and somewhat dwarf. It could possibly be a great subject for terrarium colture. It is not the easiest fern to care for, but it is worth teh effort.. It needs a lot of lime, like some of the Maidenhairs do. We have been told it can grow on chalk (but I would not this). Quite unusual.

Green species form marginally winter hardy here in Zone 6--this is less hardy. A far more successful and gorgeous citizen of your cool greenhouse (need a groundcover under the bench?) or as a beautiful visual in a bulbpan on or near a bright chill winter window. The green species form is marginally winter hardy here in Z6--this rare variegated clone is less hardy and easily damaged by winter sun.

42300 RHAPIS EXCELSA SELECTION PAL CGH $ 12.00 Long petioles rigidly present deep green pleated leaves with cookie cutter edges richly decorating the rusty haired erect clustering stalks. Avoid red spider with adequate levels of humidity. This is the best palm selection for a large Wardian case.

Although first treasured by lite gardeners, the bonsai fanciers have seriously embraced this astoundingly minute (yet quite vigorous) shrublet long popular with the designers of "High End" troughs. We have increased the number of our stock plants in order to keep up with demand. This always draws comment here at the gardens as a fully ten inch high twiggy shrublet in the rockery is busy boasting a topping of its dimunitive blossoms throughout the season.

50061 RUELLIA MAKOYANA ACAN TGH CGH PRICE: $6.00 "Monkey Plant." Purplish mauve slightly pendant flowers bloom freely on scandent handsome leaved low shrub.Brazil. Soft dark velvet leaves with vibrant silver veins ensure the continuing popularity of this beautiful "Trailing Velvet Plant."
