Although the new name for the coleus group is Solenostemon scutellarioides, we this consider them Coleus. No one even pretends disdain for these Victorian gems anymore; indeed they constitute cutting edge collector items currently. Millenium fashion allows for brilliant color as well as delicate detail--certainly, Coleus & close cousin Plectranthus both have members covering both poles as some cry out bold tatooes and orange with purple hair, while others suggest the most subtle of laces and delicate needlepoint. The following includes some of the varieties that we list in our catalogue and online. We will be enlarging our photographic coverage as new photos get taken during the coming months. These photos were taken this February; thus, some of the plants have their winter color, which is not in some cases as vibrant as the summer color. If we get better and more typical photos taken later this spring, we will exchange them for the photos here. In particular, Coleus hybridus Eclipse is much more vibrant than it shows up in its present photo. See our coleus listings for availability. Click here to go to the "C" section of the catalogue and start viewing our coleus selection offerings for 2010. There are perhaps twenty more varieties about ready to be uploaded for 2010during February. Perhaps you would like to go to the Downer's Garden Page with the myriads of coleus used in fantastic array Click here to see the coleus in use in the summer garden.
